This is Carl.
You might know him from previous posts. He generally hangs out on light fittings, curtain rails, or anything else just out of grabbing range.
But today the internet went down.
And so Carl appeared, for once, at a level of less than 8ft.

Immediately, this is considered suspicious behaviour.
He asked me to teach him to play solitaire.
I grew up before Microsoft claimed the game, so I know it as Patience.
That would be an absurd name for anything involving Carl.
Since technology is currently limited, he decided he wanted to learn something from "the old days". And because I’m apparently "older than Google and possibly remember the war" Carl concluded I was the human most likely to possess the ancient knowledge of playing a card game by yourself.

Cheers, Carl. Thanks. I think.
Why he picked Solitaire and no other game, I’m not sure. There are three whole cupboards full of activities in this house.
Yet here we are.
And somehow, despite not understanding a single part of the rules, it’s surprisingly wholesome.
He’s being calm and gentle and hasn’t tipped over, thrown, or eaten anything.
Yet.
